Waste sorting and recovery facilities
The transfer station has been conceived to meet the need to reduce first of all the transportation costs of waste to be sent to treatment centres or to the landfill and secondly, to streamline bureaucratic procedures and practices which are part of waste management (filling in of identification documents, weighing, loading and unloading, handling on site).
The result is a single point where the means of transport assigned to waste collection (compactors and satellite vehicles), operating in a certain catchment area, can converge.
Upon completion of the transfer, the waste is taken to the landfill or to the treatment plants using suitable long-distance means of transport.
